Ranch Couple Team
Job Location: Texas
Seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Ranch Couple Team (no children on the property, please) for a ranch in TX on a beautiful 2,800 acres! This is a high-game fenced property in the Texas Hill Country with a 7,000 sq. ft. main home. There is also housing provided on-site in a 3 br/2ba house for the couple. Position includes shared duties as listed, but not limited to:
- Maintain operational and maintenance records
- Occasionally, there is a need to hike fence lines through plateau and canyons to check water gaps and fallen trees.
- Must be able to operate chainsaws and pole saws for maintaining road and fence right of ways and cedar clearing.
- Coordinate and assist with annual to semiannual prescribe burning of various size acreage tracts.
- Maintain harvest log records and supervise safety, proper deer tagging, and ethical hunting practices
- Overall management of the homes/gardens/landscaping and animals of the ranch
- Prepare the ranch for owner visits, use checklists to ensure priorities are covered before and after each visit
- Maintain records and create reports for wildlife tax exemption
- Feeding, harvesting, and management of wildlife and livestock
- Predator control
- Monitoring conservation easements
- Maintenance and repair of all ranch buildings and fences
- Perform overall landscaping, irrigation, and mowing
- Care of garden and orchard
- Lake and creek maintenance
- Operation, maintenance, and repair of ranch equipment
- Previous experience with good references working as a couple team is required.
- This is mainly outdoor work requiring physical strength and stamina. This individual must be physically fit to meet the daily demands of the job.
- Must have the ability and vitality to work outside in summer Texas weather, as well as in rainy or cold conditions.
- Must have an excellent work ethic, be self-motivated, honest, and able to complete projects with limited or no direct supervision
- Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Must have experience pulling trailers and driving and maintaining tractors and similar equipment
- Competence with “handy-man skills” – plumbing, mechanical, electrical, painting and carpentry is a plus
- Water well knowledge and experience is a plus
- Houskeeping inside the homes on the property is expected from the couple and an eye for detail is important!
