Herdsman

The care and welfare of a cattle ranching operation is what this role is responsible for.  We are looking for a humble learner who seeks first to understand and then to be understood.  One who possesses excellent communication skills with a focus on active listening and clear, effective dialogue.  Can demonstrate performance as a servant leader who focuses on the details.  Someone who has strong organizational skills with an emphasis on time management, responsiveness, and maintaining a clean, efficient work environment. Along with a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of people, processes, and the cause of things.  This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed is required.

Qualifications:

• An associate’s degree and/or two (2) years of experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Certification, or willingness to become certified.
• Experience handling cattle. Horseback riding is a must.
• Must be able to wear different “Hats” throughout the work day.
• Understanding of regulations applicable to the business, including safety, environmental, and animal welfare standards.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Stand for 8 hours at a time.
