ROTA Nanny
Warm, private family in San Juan, Puerto Rico is seeking an experienced, kind, and engaging ROTA nanny to care for their happy 18-month-old son. This is a wonderful opportunity for a career nanny who enjoys working closely with a family, loves being active and outdoors, and brings a calm, positive energy to the home. The family strongly prefers to find someone who is willing to relocate to the island or already based in Puerto Rico.
The nanny will be responsible for all aspects of the toddler’s care, including meals and feeding, diapering, bath time, child-related laundry, keeping track of supplies, and packing/unpacking for travel. The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys engaging with toddlers through fun, educational, and age-appropriate activities while also recognizing the importance of encouraging independent play.
The family spends a great deal of time around the water, so candidates must be confident swimmers and comfortable taking the toddler into the pool and playing with him at the ocean’s edge. The family also spends time on boats, so candidates must be comfortable boating and not prone to motion sickness.
This is a collaborative household, with the nanny working closely with the parents, particularly a stay-at-home mom. A housekeeper handles deep cleaning twice weekly, and a house manager is present daily and assists with dishes, general tidying and errands. The nanny should also be willing to help keep the kitchen tidy as needed, particularly after preparing meals or snacks for the child and during busier times.
Ideally candidates will have previous experience as the sole caregiver for multiple consecutive days and be comfortable working extended hours during their rotation. The family understands the intensity of a ROTA schedule and makes a genuine effort to provide flexibility and downtime where possible. This includes additional rest when necessary and meaningful breaks.The position follows a 7 days on / 7 days off ROTA schedule. Approximately four times per year, during family travel, rotations may extend to 14 consecutive days to accommodate longer trips.
The family is expecting their second child in November and will have a dedicated 20-hour-per-day baby nurse for the first four months. During that period, the ROTA nanny’s primary responsibility will remain the toddler, with occasional newborn support during the baby nurse’s breaks. After approximately four months, care of the new baby will gradually transition to the nanny as well.
